There is a buzz of activity at the Tampa Convention Center with less than a week to go before the start of the Republican National Convention.
Crews are setting up their workspaces, moving in various types of equipment and generally getting familiar with the lay of the land at the convention center, which sits across from the Tampa Bay Times Forum. That's where the Republican Party will nominate Mitt Romney for president and Paul Ryan for vice president.
Of course everybody is also keeping an eye on the weather as Tropical Storm Isaac develops. Wednesday afternoon, showers and thunderstorms were drenching downtown Tampa.
Inside the cavernous convention center, various national and international news organizations, including newspapers and television networks, had divided up the vast space into newsrooms and broadcast centers.
Security was tight with acesss to the TCC limited. Starting next week it will be much tighter.
